New report from Datamyne covers players, trends in a leading US-Chile trade sector
The Chilean Fresh Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) is projecting growth in exports for the 2010-11 season: from a 2% increase in apples to a 40% boost for kiwifruit, to a whopping 71% jump in cherry exports.
According to ASOEX’s mid-April report, shipments of table grapes are running about 5% higher than last year (when an early freeze lowered volumes), with Crimson, Red Globe and Autumn Royal predominant in the late March/early April harvesting.
The US is a top market for the bounty of fruits Chile exports, taking 37% of the total shipped in the 2009-10 season.
The top market’s top pick of Chilean fruit is fresh grapes. And the Chilean fruit is far and away the top pick for imported grapes in the US.
