New feature tracks trends in searches of our trade data

Datamyne has added a new feature to its website home page. We’re listing the top “country,” “company,” and “product” searches by subscribers of our trade database each month, starting with July.

Ranked by volume of inquiries, the month’s most popular search terms can indicate market trends or reflect market events. In the current list of country searches, for instance, heavy-weight China is tops; but the up-and-coming alternative for companies seeking to diversify sources of supply and production, Vietnam, is number 2. Turkey, one of a handful of priority markets under President Obama’s National Export Initiative, is number 3.

In company searches,  five of the top company names (Advanced Automation, Harbin Electric, Harbin Tech, Shanghai Tech Full, and Weihai Tech) belong to units of Chinese electric motor maker Harbin Electric, which was in the midst of a management buyout in July (and has had to battle charges of inaccurate financial reporting in August).

You’ll find “Our Top Searches” at the lower right-hand side of our home page.
