Pharma Logistics: More Refrigerated Pharma Goods Go Ocean Freight

After falling to historic lows in 2016, ocean freight rates began to recover towards the end of last year, writes Cathy Roberson in Pharma Logistics IQ.

Meanwhile, air freight rates remain high and capacity is tightening. More pharmaceutical shippers are looking to ocean freight as an alternative.

Indeed, Descartes Datamyne traded data indicates the volume of U.S. imported refrigerated pharmaceutical goods increased 18.1% from 2015 to 2016.

Roberson digs into the trade data on temperature-controlled shipments, and offers some tips for shippers considering ocean freight.
