Trade policy-setting and business networking are on the agenda in Atlanta

The registration website for the fourth annual gathering of representatives of the Western Hemisphere’s market-based economies is up and running. The Americas Competitiveness Forum (ACF) meets November 14-16 in Atlanta, Ga., to consider a four-item agenda: (a) innovation and green technologies; (b) education and workforce development; (c) entrepreneurship and small business development, and (d) trade facilitation, border clearance, and supply-chain logistics. The Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration (ITA) will be using the event to facilitate business-to-business and business-to-government meetings with the aim of promoting trade opportunities. The U.S. hosted the ACF in its first two years. Last year’s forum was hosted by Chile in Santiago. That same year, the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development of the Organization of American States (OAS) formally joined ACF and began coordinating the region’s public and private competitiveness councils via the Inter-American Competitiveness Network (IACN).
