Miami Briefing: FDA Impact on Imports

Expert panel to review compliance with new food import safety rules

Earlier this month we took a quick look at the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act.

If you’re in the Miami area, you have an opportunity to get an in-depth briefing on the new FDA food safety regulations and how to comply with them: Wednesday morning, February 2, in Miami, the Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association is sponsoring a panel of experts – which includes this blog’s frequent contributor, Peter Quinter, international trade attorney with Becker & Poliakoff – to review the most sweeping changes to U.S. food safety law in over 70 years.

Practical advice on clearing products through the Food & Drug Administration as well as Customs & Border Protection under the new regime will be on the agenda, as will a survey of pending legislation that could impact other FDA-regulated products such as prescription drugs, dietary supplements, and medical devices.

The panel briefing runs from 9:00 a.m. (sign-in at 8:30 a.m.) to 12:00 noon, Wednesday, February 2, at the Doubletree Miami Mart Hotel. The fee is $35.00 for FCBF members, $55.00 non-members, $65.00 at the door. Learn more here (or call 305.499.9490).  Reserve your seat online here.
