Fulfillment by Amazon: LogisticsTI on What Drives Amazon Logistics

Will Amazon compete against the likes of DHL, FedEx and UPS? LogisticsTI poses the question and concludes: Maybe … but that’s not the point of Amazon’s logistics network. Amazon just wants to make sure its customers and its sellers are taken care of first. So it is building out capacity now against the day – not yet come – when it’s needed.

For example, Amazon’s Chinese subsidiary took out an NVOCC license in 2015. But it doesn’t seem to have been used as yet. Meanwhile, according to Datamyne data, over 460 TEUs have been shipped from China on behalf of Amazon since March 2016 by way of forwarder/NVOCC DeWell Container Shipping.
