Datamyne is first of US trade data providers to release US import data within 24 hours

MIAMI – September 14, 2011 Datamyne announced it will provide online access to daily updates of its database of US import transactions one day after receiving them from US Customs – making its US import data the earliest available anywhere.

“We recognize the strategic edge that reliable and current information about products and commodities entering US markets gives our clients,” says Brendan R. McCahill, Datamyne’s CEO “Having that information before everyone else sharpens that edge.”

“The daily US import data update is part of a larger database re-engineering project that will deliver several other new features and functionality,” McCahill says. “This first release enabled by our re-engineering also includes important advances in our name-matching software for greater precision in recognizing and consolidating various representations of companies under standard unified names and locations.”

Among other benefits for users, online delivery and Excel* downloads of search results are noticeably faster. Searches may now be conducted by “port of departure.” Email alert subject lines are easier to identify with saved search titles. With the reprocessing of our databases, place of receipt, country of origin, container type and size and other value-added fields are now included in our historical data covering 2004 through 2007.

McCahill notes that the daily update data includes the bill of lading detail as well as most, but not all, of the Datamyne’s value-added enhancements.

“Daily updates including Datamyne’s value-added fields, such as country of origin, place of receipt, container type and size and NVOCC/VOCC identification, will be added in phase 2 of our re-engineering project in the fourth quarter,” he says.

Also as part of the fourth-quarter release, Datamyne’s rankings, currently updated every 15 days, will be updated weekly.
