Datamyne Energy Reports will be the nucleus of ClipperData’s web-based, multi-data stream product designed for commodities and financial traders
Miami, February 14, 2013 — Datamyne, a leader in international commercial intelligence, has joined forces with ClipperData, a start-up founded by former Genscape executives Sterling Lapinski and Abudi Zein, to create global commodities market information products.
ClipperData will initially launch a web-based product built around Datamyne’s industry-leading crude oil and petroleum reports, enhanced with analytical tools and additional data streams. For example, Automatic Identification System (AIS) data will be matched with Datamyne’s US maritime import data to pinpoint the port terminals at which products arrive.
Going forward, ClipperData will be taking this same approach – combining multiple sources of data for an accurate, comprehensive picture of global market flows – to develop information products for other traded commodities.
“We look forward to working together to give our customers the market-beating advantages of an energy information product that leverages the combined strengths of Datamyne and ClipperData,” says Brendan R. McCahill, CEO of Datamyne.
Remarks ClipperData CEO Sterling Lapinski: “We’re on a mission to create the world’s first timely ‘map’ of the global flow of commodities to meet traders’ needs for actionable intelligence.
“We are beginning with a rare asset: Datamyne’s Energy Reports are unique both for their specialized focus on trade in oil and their early release, in advance of other sources,” says Lapinski. “Datamyne already serves many of the world’s top oil trading firms with their current reports. We believe this relationship provides ClipperData a true running start in the market, enabling us to launch with a product that is innovative and possesses a heritage of adding value to trading activities.”
ClipperData currently is providing product trials to prospective oil and petroleum products trading customers.
