Dominican Rep. Commitment to EVs Drives Imports: América Economía

The Dominican Republic is the leading Latin American importer and fifth-ranked importer overall of electric vehicles (EVs) manufactured in the United States as of first-quarter 2017, according to newly available trade data from Descartes Datamyne, América Economía reports.

The Caribbean nation stands out as a buyer of electric cars due to government-mandated tariff preferences aimed at replacing polluting cars with clean vehicles as well as reducing oil dependence.
